ISTANBUL - The fifth Istanbul Animation Festival will be held Nov. 24-30 in Pera Museum. Applications for the festival’s Visual Effects Short Film Competition will be available through Aug. 29.
Only films completed after Jan. 1, 2008, will be accepted into the festival.
Film materials such as like film, video and photograph are allowed. Any visual effects and animation technology such as 2-D cartoon animation, computer-aided 3-D animation, stop-motion animation, and optic, chemical, physical and digital interferences can also be used in animation films.
There will be a pre-elimination round to determine if the films abide by the competition’s conditions. The pre-selection results will be announced Sept. 29. The winners will be chosen by a jury but will not be announced until the ceremony.
Last year’s festival was held at the Istanbul Modern Museum, where 250 movies were screened. "John and Karen," directed by Matthew Walker, won the IAF Grand Prize. Another winner was Denizcan Yüzgül with "Turkish Short Branch Aquarium."
