"I am proud to have been nominated to the chief executive position in Akbank, Turkey’s highest ranking and one of Europe’s top ranking banks, where I have been serving for the last 13 years," said Akkurt. "In the upcoming period, our priorities will be to strengthen Akbank’s position as Turkey’s highest-ranking bank, to add value to our clients, employees, partners and all shareholders and to support the dynamic growth of our economy."
Born in 1961 in the southeastern city of Diyarbakır, Akkurt went to Diyarbakır Anatolian High School and Ankara Anatolian High School.
