The Akbank 5th Short Film Festival will be held in Istanbul from Dec. 15 to 25. Eighty-five films from 13 countries -France, Israel, Estonia, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Canada, Britain, Australia, Sweden, Chile, Austria and Jordan- will be screened during the festival.

The theme of this year's festival is "Shorts in the Limelight" in order to emphasize the importance of short films in the up and coming cinema industry, to draw attention to the increase in the number of films which are made and to highlight the increasing value these films possess.


The festival includes the "Documentary Film" section featuring films of acclaimed Turkish director, Hakan Aytekin as well as a variety of animation films from around the world.

 

The "Short to Feature" section features the works of Reha Erdem who began his cinematic career in short films as well as his first feature film.

 

The "Special Screening" section features Dali within the scope of surrealism and his relationship with cinema.

Film enthusiasts will also be able to benefit from the experiences of leading names in the cinema sector through discussions and workshops which will take place throughout the festival.

 

All events will take place at Akbank Art in Istanbul and will be free of charge.
