ISTANBUL - Akbank Sanat Piano Days continues tonight with performances by Sabri Tuluğ Tırpan and Benyamin Sönmez. Master pianist Tırpan, highly praised internationally for his entertaining performances, will play a concert with young violinist Sönmez, at 8 p.m. at Akbank Sanat.

Tırpan attended the Vienna State Conservatory from 1992 to 1996. After completing his education, he performed in many international festivals. "Hearts musical," composed by Tırpan, was cited by the magazine Musical Cocktail as the best recent composition to come out of German-speaking countries. The artist, who had great success with his "Rumi/Alchemist Symphonic Poem," will release an album, "My Green Color," in 2009. He has also been working for the Vienna Mahler Conservatory and the Performing Arts Studio of Vienna.

Sönmez, who will accompany Tırpan on violin, won the Best Boccherini Interpreter Award and is one of Natalia Gutman’s students. In 2007, Sönmez was among the young stars who performed in memorial concerts organized for Rostropovich’s 80th birthday.

The two artists will come together after the concert to greet fans in master classes at Akbank Saat on Jan. 16 at 11 p.m. Ticket prices for the concert are 5 to 10 Turkish lira.

The last guest of Piano Days will be Cornelia Herrmann. The artist, who will come to Turkey through collaboration with the Austrian Culture Center, will perform works by Schumann and Brahms on Jan. 21.
