Turkey's pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP) was always ready to constitute a peace atmosphere, Ahmet Turk said during his speech after being elected the party's new leader late on Sunday. (UPDATED)

Turk said being elected as co-chair by getting all of the valid votes was a big responsibility for him and he would be worthy of this post.�

"Let's stop using weapons as a mean in search for more rights," he said.

"We will work collectively together with the members of party assembly. No matter for all what they say, we are always ready to constitute peace atmosphere so as to create the conditions of living together with Turkish society for peace, democracy and freedom," Turk added.�

Turk left as the only candidate attending the election after Mahmut Alinak, who announced his candidacy for the leadership, had withdrawn during the congress in favor of Turk.
