Eye witnesses reported that Dink’s attacker shouted, “I shot the Armenian”, and had continued shooting at Dink after the Armenian’s body had fallen to the ground. The attacker was described as a young man with slightly long brown hair in his twenties. He was said to be 1.70 metres tall and weighing between 70 and 75 kg.

One of Mr. Dink’s close friends, Mr. Orhan Alkaya, explained that they had discovered that Mr. Dink had received three shots in the nape. Alkaya went on to say,

“This is a method commonly employed by Hezbollah followers in the Southeast,’’ said Orhan Alkaya, a close friend of Dink. ``This was a professionally carried out assassination. This country is not a country of fascists and murderers. It is our country; Hrant’s country. Those who committed this assassination will pay severely for what they have done.”
