ISTANBUL - Hürriyet, the flagship daily of the Doğan Media Group and parent of the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review, has gone through an organizational change, as explained by the paper’s editor-in-chief Ertuğrul Özkök in his column on Monday.
According to the column, Enis Berberoğlu, Hürriyet’s Ankara bureau chief, will also serve on the Board of Directors at Hürriyet, the newspaper’s highest executive body. "Thus, the key role of Ankara representatives at the newspaper will be enhanced further," Özkök wrote.
Another important change is that Eyüp Can Sağlık, the current editor-in-chief of business daily Referans and the former executive editor of Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review, will take over the role of news coordinator at Hürriyet.
Sağlık had previously started writing a column in Hürriyet’s economy pages. Emre İskeçeli, a managing editor at Hürriyet, will manage the newspaper’s weekend supplements, Özkök said.
A fourth key change was that Temuçin Tüzecan is to appear on the newspaper’s masthead as Hürriyet institutional communication coordinator. Tüzecan, who was once Hürriyet’s ombudsman, has led successful social responsibility campaigns such as the "End Domestic Violence" campaign.
One of his most influential projects was the "Hürriyet Human Rights Train," which traveled the country for months. "He is working on a new train project that will start in September," Özkök wrote. "Besides social responsibility campaigns, Tüzecan will also maintain relations with Hürriyet readers and our Readers’ Assembly."
