ANTALYA - Bringing the warmth of a home to more children in orphanages, the "Children Homes Project" in Antalya has been expanded with four new homes.

Launched by Antalya Social Service Directorate for children living in orphanages, the new homes were made possible by additional financial support from the Antalya Provincial Administration. The project will enable children without a family to live in one of the flats owned by the provincial administration.

Aiming to move children out of the orphanage environment and give them the possibility of a life like those who have a home and a family, the project will further be expanded depending on its success rate. An expert group will supervise the children during their stay.

Raise happy individuals
"Living a home environment in their dreams, our children will have the opportunity to experience the warmth of a home and be integrated into society with this project," said Bilal Özgür, chairman of Antalya Provincial Administration. "We hope that the dwellings will help our children grow up as happy and successful individuals living in harmony with others." About 24 children will be moved into the homes. "Committees from Isparta and Burdur came to the directorate in order to get information about our model project."

"Moreover, the security and education services for the children moved out of orphanages will be undertaken by the state. We also believe that all the orphanages will be replaced by the ’love homes’ across the country in the near future," he said. "The children have the chance to lead a social life by going shopping, socializing with other residents and sharing, while those living in orphanages do not have this chance."

"It is nice to see that people have showed interest in the project," said Ramazan Özen, provincial director of Social Service Department. "This is an important leap to enable our children living in orphanages to live in a home environment embellished with human touch."
