ISTANBUL - Filming has just completed on a documentary about 3,000 years of migration on an ancient trade road in Anatolia.
The documentary focuses on the route from the Mediterranean city of Adana that extends north to the Black Sea city of Kadirli and east to the other Mediterranean city of Kahramanmaraş in the district of Göksun.
Around 100 people appeared in the documentary titled "Çukuorova’da Göç" (Migration in Çukurova). It was filmed by a group of teachers with the support of the Kadirli District Administration and Kadirli High School.
"The documentary introduces the history, geography and culture of Çukurova," said Kadirli district administrator, Abdul Rauf Ulusoy. He said the documentary was screened during the Museums Week and that 5,000 CDs of the
film would be distributed in Turkey and abroad in September.
The director of the film, Muzaffer Yüksel Kaya, said the filming took nearly two months. "Both the Roman period and Turkmen tribes were filmed in the documentary," he said. "The three-episode film, each nearly 45 minutes, is an amateur one. Our goal is to remind people of the migration that continued for 3,000 years in Çuıkurova. Those watching the documentary will gain a significant appreciation of the social lives of people from the past."
