25-Year-Prison To Contractor

Contractor Veli Gocer, who was tried for causing, at the earthquake of August 17, 1999, the death of 195 people at the homes he constructed, was condemned to a 25-year prison sentence. The action into Gocek resulted in 5 years. Veli Gocer could not keep himself from crying when he heard the judgement.

The Konya 2nd Heavy Criminal Court condemned Veli Gocer, his son Can Gocer and his partner Zafer Coskun to a 25-year-imprisonment for each, for causing the death of more than one person as a result of imprudence and carelessness.
While Veli Gocer was arrested and sent to the prison at the end of the hearing, an arrest warrant was issued for Can Gocer and Zafer Coskun. Veli Gocer, who was previously under arrest for 7 months, has to be stay in prison for 9 more years in accordance with the Execution Code.
