A Turkish Janissary band performed in Central Part, New York on Thursday as part of the run up to the 24th Turkish Day Parade that will take place in the city on Saturday. Tourists and US citizens watched with interest and were happy to be entertained by the band ahead of the Turkish Parade that will take place on Madison Avenue, Saturday May 21. The parade will include folk dancers along with the Ottoman Janissary band. It is believed that the Syriac community, who originally come from Mardin, will also join the parade this year. The first American army band a military band from Connecticut will also play at the parade.State Ministers Besir Atalay and Mehmet Aydin will attend the parade to represent Turkey. Prime Ministers Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s advisor who has lived in the US for over 17 years is expected to accompany the Turkish officials.The Federation of Turkish-American Associations (FTTA) organized the parade and in a press statement said that the Turkish flag will fly over  Bowling Green Park on Wall Street Friday and a traditional Turkish Ball will take place at the Marriot Marquise Hotel in Times Square on the same day.Â
