200 PKK and Hizbollah Members Released

More than 200 members of PKK-Kongragel and Hizbollah who have petitioned to benefit from the penal reductions in the new Turkish Penal Code, have been released of prison.

These were set free from prison after applying to the penal courts of southeast city Diyarbakir.
Republican Prosecutor Yilmaz Aktas said that the new Penal Code applicable on April 1, 2005 has replaced the definition of membership to organization and therefore defendants, whose 4.5 years of sentence remained, were released from prison.
