ANKARA - The Daily News's Istanbul reporter Vercihan Ziflioğlu and Ankara photographer Selahattin Sönmez were honored with "Successful Journalists of 2008" awards by the Contemporary Journalists Association, or ÇGD.
Ziflioğlu won her prize in the interview category for her interviews regarding director Sergei Parajanov. Sönmez won the photography prize for his photograph titled, "May Day in Turkey."
Meanwhile, the General Convention of the Association of Parliamentary Correspondents, or PMD, re-elected Göksel Bozkurt as chairman yesterday. Bozkurt is the political correspondent of the Hürriyet Daily News & Economic Review.
Alongside Bozkurt, Sibel Erdem, Saliha Çolak, Bülent Sarıoğlu, Murat Şahin, Mahmut Aydın and Ahmet Kıvanç were elected members of PMD's executive board.
Established in 1964, the PMD represents political correspondents and has 805 members.
