Teenager killed as shanty collapses in Turkey

The accident in Gultepe, a poor neighbourhood on Istanbul's European side, occurred when a retaining wall, weakened by heavy rains, toppled onto the shanty house causing the roof to cave in, AA said.

Firefighters rescued the victim’s parents and three siblings, among them an eight-year-old girl, from under the rubble.

Frightened neighbors vacated nearby homes fearing further landslides as the rains continue, broadcaster CNNTurk reported.
