A hospitalized 37-year-old woman died after experiencing heart trouble during the quake, the news agency said. Three other people were injured in the incident, it added.
The quake caused cracks in some buildings and broke windows, Simav Mayor Riza Ozdemir was quoted by news agencies as saying.
Residents of Simav rushed out of their homes in panic and are staying in the streets; they are scared to go back inside, he said.
Schools were closed for the day.
