Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan left for New York late on Monday to discuss the recent situation in the region at a gathering due to take place at the U.N. Security Council, after attending a meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara.
Ahmet Davutoglu, chief adviser to Erdogan, attended Tuesday the meeting between Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and French President Nicolas Sarkozy who started a Mideast tour to encourage cease-fire between Israel and Palestinian group Hamas.
The meeting was attended also by the EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
