Güncelleme Tarihi:
The blaze was sparked by an explosion at Dilovasi, an industrial zone some 40 kilometers from the city center.
"The fire is now completely under control," Dilovasi Mayor Cemil Yaman told broadcaster NTV.
No one was hurt in the blaze, he said.
Teams of firefighters were sent to prevent the fire from spreading to tanks of other chemicals in the vicinity, including digging trenches to channel the flow of flammable liquids away from the tanks, the state-run Anatolian Agency reported.
The damage was expected to cost nearly $3 million, the agency said.
The cause of the explosion was not yet known, it added.
