--15 SOLDIERS KILLED IN BROAD DAYLIGHT
PKK attacked Aktutun outpost, 4 km to Hakkari-Iraq border and Bayraktepe border unit on Friday afternoon. 15 soldiers were killed, 22 soldiers were injured and 2 others were reported missing in the attack made by the terrorists coming from north of Iraq. Most of the loses were in Bayraktepe border unit in the clash that continued for 5 hours.

--RENOWNED FAMILY DIES IN FLOOD
Esat Edin, owner of holiday resort Kemer Country, and his three children were staying in a tent at a camping site at Kaz Mountains. A nearby river overflow because of heavy rain and dragged the tent where Edin family was staying in. Only Murat Edin, 14 year old son of Esat Edin, who was in London rescued death.

--PKK RAIDS MILITARY OUTPOST KILLING 15

350 PKK terrorists entering Turkey from Iraqi territory attacked a military outpost stationed in Bayraktepe, nearby Aktutun border station, with heavy machine guns and anti-aircraft artillery around 13:00pm. 15 soldiers were killed, and 21 others were wounded while two soldiers went missing. According to a press release issued by the General Staff most of the casualties were suffered during the attack launched from Iraqi territory. The gendarmerie teams in the station instantly fought back, and helicopters bombed the areas where terrorists were situated. The clashes lasted until dusk. 23 of the terrorists who laid down their weapons and ran away were killed.

--THE WORLD CONDEMNED THE ATTACK
The French EU Presidency condemned the attack with a press release and said the EU was in complete solidarity with Turkish authorities. U.S. embassy also issued a press release referring to a statement by Bush announcing that terrorist organisation PKK was a common enemy. The embassy called on PKK to lay down its weapons.

Terrorists attacked border unit at Aktutun Gendarmerie outpost in Semdinli town of southeastern province of Hakkari killing 15 soldiers and injuring 21 others. 2 soldiers were reported missing and 23 terrorists were killed. According to a statement from General Staff, terrorists attacked the outpost with heavy weapons on Friday evening from north of Iraq. This was the 5th attack to Aktutun Gendarmerie outpost since 1992.

--MUTUAL INVESTMENTS ARE BRIDGES OF FRIENDSHIP
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cancelled his trip to Central Asia upon hearing news of the terrorist attack on Turkish soldiers in southeastern province of Hakkari and returned to Turkey. Speaking during his talks in Turkmenistan, Erdogan said, "we consider the Turkish businessmen, investments, workers and their families here as bridges of friendship."

--SAME OLD STORY, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Around 350 terrorists attacked unit of Semdinli Aktutun Gendarmerie outpost in Bayraktepe at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Aktutun outpost, which was raided 4 times in the past, once again became the target of PKK. 15 soldiers killed, 2 went missing and 21 others were injured. Cobra type helicopters of Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade shelled the terrorists. According to preliminary information, 23 PKK terrorists were killed. Commando units pursued PKK terrorists, and launched an operation in north of Iraq.

--SIMSEK TO RELATE TURKEY'S EXPERIENCE ON CRISIS
A large delegation of economists, led by Turkish State Minister Mehmet Simsek, will leave for Washington D.C. on October 8 to attend International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank Annual Meetings. Simsek will meet executives of IMF and World Bank and exchange views on Turkey's economy and developments in global economy. Simsek is also expected to explain his views as regards to global financial crisis during high ranking meetings that would be organized by IMF, World Bank and International Finance Institute. Simsek will give information about Turkey's experiences on banking and finance sector and reform process.

--TURKEY SHEDS TEARS FOR ITS 15 MARTYRS
Terrorist organisation PKK attacked Aktutun Military station in the semdinli town of the southeastern province of Hakkari. Rocket launchers, mortar and machine guns were used in the attack. Terrorists situated in Iraqi territory provided support with long range weapons. 15 soldiers were killed and 21 soldiers were wounded.

Special forces crossed the border in hot pursuit of the attackers. Clashes erupted during the operation carried out with air support. General Staff announced that number of casualties the terrorists suffered under airstrikes and artillery shelling was not known.

--HIGHER BOARD OF COUNTER-TERRORISM CONVENES IN AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING
Top state officials got together in Ankara after the loss of 15 soldiers in Semdinli. Higher Board of Counter-Terrorism convened in Ankara under the chairing of Premier Erdogan who cut short his visit abroad and returned to Turkey. A press release issued after the meeting said fight against terrorism would continue at all costs, and necessary measures would continue to be implemented with determinism.

--15 SOLDIERS KILLED IN ATTACK ON AKTUTUN MILITARY OUTPOST
15 soldiers were killed in a terrorist attack on military unit of Aktutun Gendarmerie Border outpost in Semdinli town of southeastern province of Hakkari. Two sergeants went missing in the attack. 6 of the 20 injured soldiers, who were reported to be in serious condition, were sent to Ankara. According to a statement by General Staff, most of the loses stemmed from shots of heavy weapons from north of Iraq.

--ANKARA REACTS
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan cut a trip to Turkmenistan short and returned to Turkey and President Abdullah Gul cancelled his visit to Europe. A note was given to Iraq, and the United States was warned: Administration in north of Iraq does not meet the expectations on PKK.
