-- AUTO SALES IN TURKEY DOWN BY 58.5 PCT IN NOVEMBER
The number of automobiles sold in the Turkish market went down by 58.5 percent in November when compared to November 2007. In the first 11 months of 2008, 280,119 automobiles were sold in Turkey, which means a 5.3 percent drop when compared to the same term in 2007.

-- LIONS BREAK DOWN BERLIN WALL
Galatasaray soccer team of Turkey defeated Hertha Berlin team of Germany 1-0 in the second round Group B match in the UEFA Cup in Berlin. Galatasaray's goal came from Milan Baros at the 68th minute from a penalty kick. With this win, Galatasaray have secured a place in the next round in the UEFA Cup.

Galatasaray soccer team of Turkey concluded their group matches in UEFA Cup with a 1-0 away victory over Herta Berlin in Germany. The two remaining matches of Galatasaray's opponents will determine the ranking of Galatasaray in their group.

-- CRISIS BREAKS INFLATION
Discounts, which were made because of low demand, caused inflation rates to fall. The consumer inflation rate, expected to rise 1.02 percent in November, increased only 0.83 percent. Producer prices dropped by 0.03 percent, although a 0.7 percent rise was estimated. According to the inflation figures made public by the Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK), the annual inflation rate was 10.76 percent in consumer prices and 12.25 percent in producer prices as of November.

-- INFLATION GOES DOWN IN TURKEY IN NOVEMBER
Turkey's statistics authority announced that the consumer prices index rose by 0.83 percent and the producer prices index dropped by 0.03 percent in November 2008. According to the inflation figures made public by the Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK), the annual inflation was 10.76 percent in consumer prices and 12.25 percent. in producer prices as of November. In the first 11 months of 2008, consumer prices were up 10.52 percent and producer prices were up 12.08 percent. According to 12-month averages as of November, the inflation reached 10.31 percent in consumer prices and 12.56 percent in producer prices.

-- PRICE OF NATURAL GAS IN TURKEY TO GO DOWN IN JANUARY
Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Hilmi Guler, said that globally declining prices of oil would have an impact on natural gas utilized by Turkish consumers. "We will bring down the price of natural gas in January 2009," Guler said.

Galatasaray soccer team of Turkey defeated Hertha Berlin of Germany 1-0 in the UEFA Cup group match in Berlin. Cimbom now wait for Benfica v Metalist match that will be played on Dec. 18. If Benfica win the match, Galatasaray will be the leaders of the group, however if Metalist win the match, Galatasaray will finish second in its group. The next round draw will be made on Dec. 19.

-- TEMPERATURES WILL BE LIKE SPRING TILL FEAST OF SACRIFICE
Temperatures are above seasonal averages and will continue like this until feast of sacrifice. However, temperatures will have a slight drop in the first day of feast of sacrifice and rain is expected in the Marmara and Aegean regions.

-- SURPRISING DROP IN INFLATION
Inflation rates in November are below the estimated figures. The consumer prices index rose by 0.83 percent and the producer prices index dropped by 0.03 percent in November 2008. The annual inflation was 10.76 percent in consumer prices and 12.25 percent in producer prices as of November. The rise in natural gas, 21.77 percent, was the highest price increase in November.

-- ELECTIONS WILL BE CONTROVERSIAL
The arrangement of the registry of voters by the General Directorate of Census and Turkish Statistical Institution --working under the Ministry of the Interior-- based on the address registry system, which is different from past years, opened the reliability and neutrality of elections to debate. Supreme Courts Honorary Chief Prosecutor Sabih Kanadoglu said the law stipulating the arrangement of a registry of voters by the administration violated the constitution. "Legitimacy of elections, which is made with a registry of voters that is prepared by the executive branch, will be questionable," said Kanadoglu. Judges and Prosecutors Association Chairman Omer Eminaoglu said, "Registers prepared by the executive branch make up the basis of the registry of voters. Escape from neutral judiciary supervision is controversial. Law amendment does not comply with the constitution."

-- GALATASARAY ADVANCE TO NEXT ROUND WITH APPLAUSE
Galatasaray, who compete in the group B of the UEFA Cup, beat Hertha Berlin (1-0) with a penalty goal scored by Milan Baros in the 64th minute of last night's match in Berlin. Galatasaray raised their points to nine with this victory and guaranteed their advancing to the next round. Some 40,000 Turks, watching the game live at the stadium, cheered with joy. Metalist Kharkiv beat Olympiakos 1-0 in another match in group B.

-- AS RELIEF PACKAGE DELAYS, EXPECTATIONS GROW
Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Chairman Tanil Kucuk said Turkey entered a period where it would be feeling the effects of the crisis more. He said expectations about the government's relief package grew as time passed. Chairman of Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Rifat Hisarciklioglu said what Turkey was feeling at the moment was not the flames of the fire but only its heat.

-- GALATASARAY FULL SPEED IN UEFA CUP
Galatasaray won the last game in their group in the UEFA cup and guaranteed advancing to the next round. Galatasaray who dominated against Hertha Berlin in Germany, won the match with a goal by Milan Baros in the 69th minute. Whether Galatasaray will advance to the next round as the group leaders or not depends on the last match of Metalist, who are now in the second place in the group.

-- THEY DID NOT REMAIN INDIFFERENT TO GUL'S GESTURE
The French government said it could not enact a law about history and decided not to submit a bill, envisaging "punishment to those who deny genocide on Armenians", to the Senate. The response given to Socialist Party member Rouquet said parliaments should not interfere in the matters of historians. French State Minister Alan Marleix described Turkish President Abdullah Gul's visit to Yerevan as "very encouraging and a strong gesture".

-- NATURAL GAS PRICES TO DROP
Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said the drop in oil prices will be reflected on natural gas prices. Asked whether this drop would be reflected on natural gas prices in January, Guler said, "Yes, it will be reflected."
