Turkish Corps of Engineers deployed in Lebanon spent $40,000 to transform a ruined two-storey school building into an education center in the Lebanese city of Tyre.

Speaking at the inauguration of the center, Turkish ambassador in Beirut Serdar Kilic said that people living in the south of Lebanon were affected the most by the wars in the region.

Kilic said Turkey had completed the construction of 37 schools in Lebanon so far, adding that construction of 20 more schools continued.

"We will start the construction of a Trauma and Rehabilitation Center in Sidon by the end of April. It is an important project worth $20 million and nearly 500,000 people will be offered help in this center," Kilic said.

Kilic also said that Turkey's support was a modest contribution aimed at easing the pain of the Lebanese people.

Delivering a speech at the inaugural ceremony, Lebanese Industry Minister Ghazi Zoayter said that the new education center would help Lebanese women meet with life again.

Zoayter also said that the Turkish troops in Lebanon strengthened peace in the region and gave people hope for a better future.
