GAZİANTEP - Taner Demiralp, the composer and art director of "Fatih" musical, which features the life of Istanbul conqueror, Fatih Sultan Mehmet, and the conquest of the city, asserts that his musical will be one of the most important ones in the world.

"It will not be a musical as part of the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture events, but it will be one of the most important musicals in the world. This work is one that should be staged on Broadway," he said.

Demiralp, who has been working on the musical for nearly four years, said the countdown had started for the big premier. "We have started the film and animation work that we will use in the show. Our goal is to enable the whole world to view this play in May 2010 and to catch the hearts of people via art, which is a universal language," Demiralp said.

Demiralp called Fatih Sultan Mehmet a real world hero. "Everyone must be sure that we will perform a universal presentation that he and this country deserves," he said to express his determination about the success of the show.

Demiralp, who has also contributed to the music of shows such as Sultans of the Dance and The Fire of Anatolia, which successfully represent Turkey all around the world, said the "Fatih" project was his life’s project.

İlter Burak Kalay will play the role of Fatih Sultan Mehmed, Sönmez Atasoy will play the role of Murad II, and Hasan Yanlızoğlu will play the role of Crusade Commander Yanosh Hunyadi. A total of 90 dancers will perform in the musical.
