ANKARA - Aiming to better promote Turkish cinema abroad, representatives from the film industry and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism will visit Berlin from March 25 to 27 to discuss joint Turkish-German projects.
The 13-person Turkish delegation was invited to Germany by the Berlin Cinema Fund, the culture ministry’s Abdurrahman Çelik said, adding that they would attend a panel there and exchange information about the system for funding cinema in both countries. "We are doing a thing like this for the first time, where Turkish directors and producers will exchange information about various projects," Çelik said. "This is the result of the fast development of Turkish cinema over the last four years and the great interest in Turkish films. International festivals invite Turkish films to compete or to be screened. This shows the sector’s development."
Çelik said the ministry supported the production of Turkish films and would promote the sector in the international arena as well as within the country, adding, "We provide financial support for the films that compete in international sections of festivals."
