ISTANBUL - The 7th Bursa Book Fair opens today, featuring 90 cultural and literary events, including discussions, panels and poetry readings. More than 200 publishing houses and non-governmental organizations are scheduled to participate, along with nearly 350 artists, scientists, journalists and politicians who will deliver speeches at the fair.
Some 600 writers will be appear for book signings, including Füruzan, İlber Ortaylı, Ataol Behramoğlu, Nihat Behram, Server Tanilli, Gülten Dayıoğlu, Zeynep Oral, Ahmet Ümit, Erdal Sarızeybek, Şükran Soner, Mustafa Balbay, Hikmet Çetinkaya, Cezmi Ersöz, Nihat Genç, Banu Avar, Yılmaz Odabaşı, Ece Temelkuran, Enver Aysever and İpek Ongun.
Organized by the TÜYAP Bursa Fuarcılık A.Ş. in collaboration with the Bursa Metropolitan Municipality, the Bursa Trade and Industrial Chamber, or BTSO, the Provincial Directorate of National Education, Uludağ University and the Turkish Writers’ Union, the fair will be held at the TÜYAP Bursa International Fair and Congress Center.
As part of the book fair, TÜYAP and the Nilüfer Municipality will celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8 with special panels, a chorus performance and a screening of the documentary
film "Day Laborer."
Bursa’s 5th National and International Education Fair will open simultaneously with 105 educational institutes from seven countries hosting conferences on foreign education, testing systems and international business life.
Entrance to fairs will be free. The fairs will continue through March 4.
