If someone came up to me last year and said:

Haberin Devamı

The Turkish Armed Forces would agree with the Pentagon to crackdown on the PKK,

The governing party would spend six months dealing with a closure case,

Opponents of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) (or the U.S.) would be suppressed in an operation referred to as Ergenekon.

We would all have laughed at this person.

But this is exactly what has happened.

Turkey paid a huge price for its refusal to accept a U.S. demand to allow American forces to use Turkish territory during its operation against Iraq in 2003.

The PKK regained its strength and support and flourished in northern Iraq.

But when Turkey agreed to normalize relations with Iraq’s north, and recognized and respected Jalal Talabani as the president instead of a clan leader, then the need for the PKK card disappeared.

The bridge between the Turkish Armed Forces and the Pentagon was re-established.

***

The governing party AKP forgot its priorities after gaining 46.6 percent of the votes in the July 22 general election.

It left aside the anchors of the EU and the IMF, and made a show of strength with lifting the headscarf ban.

The AKP has been tamed through the closure case.

Even when you are in conflict with a friend, neither of you allow your common enemy to win.

The Ergenekon probe powered up during the closure case when the AKP was weakened and forced to show obeisance.

Military information, which would be impossible for the opponents of the Turkish Armed Forces' to gain by their own efforts, has become widely known.

The country transformed into a rose garden without thorns.

Don't miss understand me, I am not so obsessed as to think that all decisions taken in Turkey are sourced abroad. But a rallying stock exchange is the best evidence for those wanting to invest billion dollars in the country, for which, they would not wait calmly without trying to do something.

As a consequence;

1- Turkey links more to the global order with each passing day.

2- Countries unable to keep pace with the global order would not go unpunished.

In my opinion, the political roadmap of the coming fall and winter months will pass between these two red lines.
