Number of energy investors in Turkey 3,000: minister

The number of energy investors in Turkey reached 3,000, Turkey's Energy Minister Hilmi Guler said on Saturday.

Everyone would become an investor in Turkey thanks to the new Electric Market Law, Guler said during a panel discussion titled "Where are we in energy?" in Ankara.
"Turkey previously had only 5-6 energy investors," the Turkish minister said.
"Turkey used to rank 32nd out of 32 global countries in utilizing wind energy. Turkey currently ranks 12th as a country that uses wind energy. Turkey would become the number 1 or 2 country as a user of wind energy," he added.
"Turkey is taking giant steps in utilizing wind energy," he also said.
Guler said the Turkish government distributed eight million tones of coal to the people, adding the "year 2009 would be the year of oil exploration in the Black Sea region."
