Enerjisa aims to supply 10 pct of Turkeys electricity needs by 2015

Enerjisa, a joint venture of Turkey's Sabanci Holding and Austia's Verbund, said on Thursday that it aimed at providing at least 10 percent of Turkey's total electricity supply by 2015.

The company plans to invest $8 billion and to reach a capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2015, Enerjisa said in a statement issued to Istanbul Stock Exchange, adding that it views the energy sector as one of its main areas of operation.Â

 

"Enerjisa currently has a capacity of 455 megawatts. And the construction of hydroelectric power plants with a 1000 megawatt capacity and the Bandirma Natural gas power plant with a capacity of 920 megawatt, are underway. International finance institutions, under the coordination of IFC, Akbank, WestLB AG, provided 1 billion euro in credit to be used for the construction of 10 hydroelectric power plants over Seyhan and Ceyhan rivers and in Camlicasi and the natural gas power plant in Bandirma," the statement said.

Enerjisa, recently officially took control of the grid serving Turkey’s capital, Ankara, after winning a government tender in July with a bid of $1.225 billion
