Turkey is a safe haven for foreign investments and is expected to attract nearly $20 billion of foreign capital in 2009, Turkish Trade Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Thursday.
Turkey attracted foreign investments worth $40 billion during the past two years and this figure would probably amount to $20 billion this year, most of which would come to Turkey in the second half of 2009, Tuzmen said.
"Unemployment is one of the most important problems of Turkey. We attach a great importance to foreign investments as a solution of this problem. That's why we are working really hard to attract more foreign capital," Tuzmen said at an inauguration ceremony in Ankara.
