Turkey's AKP to register pornographic material buyers

According to the draft law, those purchasing pornographic publications would be obliged to provide the retailer with their citizenship number and signature, the report added.

Those names would be later handed to the Youth and Sport General Administration, according to the regulation, Milliyet said.

AKP Deputy Chairman Edibe Sozen, who prepared the draft law in one year benefiting from laws in Germany, has sent her work to State Minister Murat Basesgioglu, it added.

The draft law also foresees the construction of places of worships for students from all religions at schools,

"The state is obliged to build places of worship for students from all religions in order to enable young people to improve themselves in a healthful and balanced way," it said.

According to the draft law, under-18s will not be able to enter hotels or night clubs, and under-16s will not be able to enter restaurants between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m., unless they are accompanied by their parents or a guardian. Under-18s will have to leave a club by midnight, even when accompanied by a guardian, it also suggests.

In case the draft law is accepted, under-18s will also not be able to enter internet cafes.

According to the draft prepared by Sozen, newspapers and magazines, which publish violent or sexual content, could be fined at least as much as 6-months worth of their yearly revenues, and eventually their licenses could be canceled.

The new draft law is expected to raise eyebrows in Turkey as the country awaits the ruling party to take steps to soothe concerns over secularism after the court ruled that it undertakes activities that harm secularism but stayed short of closing the party.
