ISTANBUL - The outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, has sent three suicide bombers to undertake bombing missions in major Turkish cities, private broadcaster CNN-Türk reported yesterday, citing police officials.
Police Department headquarters, based in Ankara, sent a message to the relevant provincial police departments warning that the PKK had sent three people who would probably conduct suicide attacks from the Southeast to major cities, CNN-Türk said. In the message, the national police department wanted the provincial police departments to increase efforts to capture the suspects.
The message also urged citizens to inform authorities of suspicious situations. The report came just hours after two percussion bombs exploded in central Istanbul yesterday.
