Turkey's main opposition party Republican People's Party, or CHP, has raised objections to the election results of four districts in Istanbul, a party official said at a press conference Monday. (UPDATED)

The objection came after the Republican People’s Party, or CHP, said power cuts and computer system failures jeopardized healthy vote counting in these districts.Â

The chairman of CHP's Istanbul branch, Gursel Tekin, told a press conference that in these four districts the race was "neck and neck," the state-run Anatolian Agency reported.

In Sunday’s election, CHP lost to the ruling Justice and Development Party, or AKP, candidates in Beyoglu and Cekmekoy by nearly 3,000 votes each, in Beylikduzu by less than 1,500 votes, and in Tuzla by around 1,200 votes, according to the latest results with 100 percent of the votes counted.

CHP's candidate for the Beyoglu district said 4,000 votes "vaporized" during counting. "At 3 a.m. I lost the election with only 2,000 votes which I had won during the night. We experienced an election full of lawlessness in a country which adopted the rule of law," Mustafa Dolu was quoted as saying by the Dogan News Agency.
