An injustice was done against Turkish prime minister during a Gaza session in Davos, the leader of the country’s main opposition said on Sunday, but added the incident is being used by the premier as a material for upcoming local elections. (UPDATED)

"Every unjust action hurts us. An injustice was done against the prime minister there. It is normal to show reaction to this," Deniz Baykal, leader of Republican People's Party (CHP), was quoted by ANKA News Agency as saying at a meeting with party members.Â

Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan had stormed out of the tense Gaza session with Israel's President Shimon Peres on Thursday in Davos after the moderator, Washington Post columnist David Ignatius, refused to give him floor.

Baykal also said the Turkish prime minister has been abusing the incident as a political tool ahead of the local elections on March 29.

The Davos incident "should not be turned into a political material for internal politics," he said. "It is not right and humanitarian to encourage the existing anti-Israelism and anti-Semitism in Turkey. It creates important problems in terms of international relations," he was quoted by broadcaster CNNTurk as saying.
