ISTANBUL - KONYA - The Consumers Association is doing its utmost to promote the boycotting of brands from Israel, the United Kingdom and the United States, said Bülent Deniz, honorary president of the Consumers Association.
Deniz, in a written statement, said hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives, thousands have been wounded and hundreds more are at risk of losing their lives at any moment due to starvation or famine as a result of the Israeli attacks since Dec. 27, 2008.
Deniz said millions of people in Turkey are reacting against the genocide occurring in Gaza and they would not finance Israel’s slaughter there. Israel and its collaborators, the United Kingdom and the United States’ products and services will be boycotted through lists that are being prepared and distributed, he said Deniz.
Deniz said the unorganized compilation of lists was liable to cause confusion, so as the Consumers Union they had developed a list of firms that were either from one of these three countries or had partnerships with companies in those countries. The list also includes the names and brands that openly support the armed conflict.
Deniz asked consumers to join the boycott and in order to avoid confusion and misunderstanding, to stick to the list while doing so.
Meanwhile over the weekend Turks protested the Israeli warplanes that hold training flights in the central Anatolian city of Konya. The local branch of the human rights organization Mazlumder organized a car convoy in which hundreds of people participated. The convoy traveled from Konya’s city center to Third Airbas, a 20,000-square-kilometer area in the Konya valley where Israeli planes fly. Participants staged a protest near the airbase and demanded all military agreements and intelligence deals with Israel be canceled.
