A Turkish prosecutor on Friday applied to the Court of Appeals seeking an additional 45 year-sentence for 10-year jailed Leyla Zana, a former MP from the pro-Kurdish DEP.

The Diyarbakir court last month sentenced Zana to ten years imprisonment for being a member of the terror organization PKK.

The court ruled that Zana had violated the penal code and the anti-terror law during nine different speeches, when she expressed support for the PKK and its jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan.

The prosecutor, however, found the punishment insufficient and has demanded an additional 45-year prison sentence for Zana, the Anatolian Agency reported.

Zana lost her seat in parliament in 1994 after her party was outlawed for links with the PKK.

She was released in June 2004 after serving a previous 10-year sentence for collaborating with PKK terrorists.

The PKK is listed as a terrorist group by Ankara and much of the international community, including the EU and the United States.
