A foreign affairs official in northern Iraq has claimed that reports of the recent capture of two PKK leaders, Murat Karayilan and Cemil Bayik, are false.

The two PKK leaders were captured by US forces in northern Iraq and flown to Europe alongside Mesut Barzani, head of regional administration in northern Iraq, last Wednesday for extradition to Turkey, according to Cumhuriyet newspaper.

When asked to comment, Felah Mustafa, who is responsible for foreign affairs in northern Iraq, said the report are unfounded and not a reflection of reality.
