Painter Ayşegül Yarar took down seven of ten nude paintings from a total of 45 paintings that she exhibited at the Gaziantep gallery, many of them featuring women in headscarves, and partially covered up the rest.

The nudes were "too much for the Gaziantep public," Yarar was told by gallery administrators, she said.

“I accepted this request because I wanted my art work to reach the public. I wanted to cover them up but doing this in a mysterious way too, using cut-up headscarves” says Yarar.

Vice-Governor Gökhan Veli Kişioğlu attended the exhbition on Wednesday.
