German FM Steinmeier: Reforms have brought Turkey closer to the EU

German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has commented on German-Turkish relations on the occasion of the 17th anniversary of the reuniting of the former East and West Germanies.
Touching on the recent general elections in Turkey, Steinmeier noted "The election results are a very set proof of Turkey's political stability." Steinmeier also praised the reforms carried out under the AKP-led administration's tenure, noting that they had sparked efffective economic growth in Turkey, as well as bringing the country "closer to the EU."
