Statesmen, headed by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, visited mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founder of the Republic of Turkey.
The ceremony was also attended by Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chief Judge of Constitutional Court Tulay Tugcu, Chief of General Staff Gen. Yasar Buyukanit, Republican People's Party Chairman Deniz Baykal, Deputy PM and State Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin, Deputy PM and FM Abdullah Gul, commanders of Armed Forces Commands, Council of State Chairperson Sumru Cortoglu, Chairman of Higher Board of Education Erdogan Tezic, several ministers and other state executives.
President Sezer signed the special book of mausoleum and said, "Turkish youth, who took oath to perpetuate our republic, who adopted your principles, evolutions, modern life and who are aware of advantages of republic, is our greatest guarantee."
"Nobody will be able to fail Turkey on its path to modernization," he added.
Meanwhile, various activities are being held all across Turkey to mark the May 19th, Commemoration of Ataturk, Youth & Sports Day.
