Chief EU Negotiator Babacan: Turkey's accession process going full speed ahead

State Minister and Chief EU Negotiator Ali Babacan has said that Turkey's EU accession process is going ahead "full speed," and that "There is no problem in terms of us being ready for the EU; the only question is when the EU will be ready for us. Will have brought all of the criteria into order by the year 2013."
Babacan was in Brussels yesterday for a Turkey-EU Mixed Consultation meeting, where he also commented on expectations around the world in regards to possible EU membership for Turkey:
"From Morocco to Indonesia, there are many countries waiting in anticipation to see whether Turkey gets membership. This is because the best example there is of a secular, democratic country among Muslim countries is Turkey."
