UK Ambassador: Rejecting Turkey’s EU bid a gift to terrorists

Despite a long and painful accession process, Turkey will one day become a European country, said British ambassador Nicholas Baird at a telecommunications conference in Istanbul.

“Denying Turkey membership to the EU would be a gift to terrorists [who] believe it is impossible for the cooperation of the Islamic world with the West. It would be a strong message to the Islamic world to say ‘yes’ to the accession of Turkey,” Baird said.
