A lawsuit demanding 38 years imprisonment has been filed against lawyer M.T. who admitted to being the Turkish commander of the Al Qaeda network.

An investigation was begun by Izmir Public Prosecutor Birol Çengil following an article appearing in Tempo magazine entitled, ‘Al-Qaeda in Turkey with 50 living bombs’. During the investigation, M.T., who was working as a lawyer in Izmir at the time of his arrest, had been also been responsible for 11 pro Al-Qaeda websites.

Through different portable phone numbers and email addresses M.T. declared himself the Turkish commander of the Al-Qaeda network and was a source of information on bomb and arms construction. Documentation showing his involvement in moving bombs around different parts of Turkey was seized during a raid into his home.
