Now that MTV has started broadcasting in Turkish, Bill Roedy, an executive with the channel's international wing, wants to make one thing clear: MTV doesn't want to export American culture. Rather, Roedy said, "Turkey will add a whole new dimension to MTV culture." Roedy underlined his wish to introduce Turkish music and spread it across the globe by investing in local teams, content, people and infrastructure.

Roedy praised Turkish bands such as Athena, Ceza and Mor ve Ötesi, which he had the opportunity to hear at the MTV Turkey premier party. "The music I listened to that evening could definitely travel to all four corners of the world. The quality and diversity are great. These songs could play anywhere in the world. One of the reasons I'm in Turkey is to understand the music here, and to endeavour to 'export' it throughout the world. Turkey will influence the world, as it already does, and we will be here to make it easier for Turkish music and culture to influence the world", Roedy told reporters.

MTV Turkey hit the airwaves on October 23rd.
