The recent raping of a 17-month-old baby, N.N.B., in Izmir, has helped to establish Turkey’s reputation for paedophilia problems. Turkey is the first country to appear in search results by Google when the words ``child porn’’ are typed into the search box, according to research by Hürriyet. Turkey’s three largest cities, Istanbul, Izmir and Ankara, are the most popular entries in the cities category.

Interest in child pornography has been increasing in Turkey, according to a news story published in Hürriyet a month ago based a count of Google searches. The number of Turks searching for child pornography on the Internet has increased in the past month despite a number of arrests made for child-pornography crimes.
