Turkish tourism sector slows down in 2006

The Turkish tourism sector is showing numbers that pale in comparison with last year. According to figures provided by sector analysts, the first 9 months of this year show a 5.8% drop in tourism profits compared with the first 9 months of last year.

The Turkish Statistics Organization has also released figures for the first 3 months of 2006, showing expenditures by foreigners visiting Turkey, as well as by Turks living abroad returning to Turkey, with figures revealing that August was by far the most profitable month for Turkish tourism operators.
