Bomb in Antlaya kills 3, injures scores

An explosion took place yesterday in one of the busiest points in the city of Antalya, killing 3 and wounding 87 people. Of the many wounded, 14 were reported to be tourists. Restaurants and stores had their windows broken from the force of the blast, while many cars parked in the area were also damaged.

As the injured were transferred to local hospitals by ambulance, police cordoned off the immediate area.
Killed in the explosion were Turkish citizens Imran Arik from Sirnak and retired police officer Bakil Aykurt, as well as one unidentified person. Also hurt were 4 Jordanians, 3 Russians, 3 Germans, 3 Dutch, 1 Israeli, and 1 Iranian citizen.

A similar explosion in the same section of Antalya had killed and injured people in 1993. Following yesterday's explosion in front of the Antalya police station, local restuarants and businesses put Turkish flags in front of their locales. EU Commissioner in charge of explansion, Olli Rehn, speaking on the part of the EU, said "I condemn these cowardly attacks in Turkey. There are no attacks which kill innocent citizens which can be portrayed as legitimate."
