Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday called Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a suggestion on cooperation on the increasingly tense Israel-Palestine front. Erdogan reportedly responded postively to Putin's call, during which both leaders agreed that the two countries held similar perspectives on the issue, agreeing that they were against the penalizing of the Palestinian people themselves.

Erdogan reportedly repeated to Putin that the international community was beginning to express serious discomfort with extreme reaction shown by Israeli security forces towards the Palestinian civilian population. He noted to Putin that while Ankara wanted to call on Palestinian forces to release the kidnapped Israeli soldier, they also wanted Israeli and Palestinian ministers to heed the call to stop violence. Putin and Erdogan ended yesterday's telephone communication with an agreement for near future cooperation on the matter.
