US Defense Minister Donald Rumsfeld, who is in New York City for a conference, repsonded to questions from a Hurriyet reporter, and in doing so, made it clear that the US has still not forgotten Turkey's less than full acquiescence on the Iraqi War.
Said Rumsfeld, "If a front in Iraq had been opened in the north from Turkey, there would have been far fewer in the way of insurgents for us to deal with these days." When asked his view of US-Turkish relations, Rumsfeld said only "Turkey is a NATO ally and a friend. Life goes on."
