Speaking on behalf of the team before leaving Van, Ann Derse said that they had a busy schedule in Van and got information from the local officials. Derse said that the US team was impressed by the program carried out by Turkey to battle bird flu.
Derse said that bird flu was a global problem and it needed global cooperation. Praising Turkey's transparency over the bird flu, Derse thanked Turkish officials for their cooperation.
Yesterday the US team visited ''100. Yil'' University Hospital in the city where four children died after becoming infected with the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu. Huseyin Avni Sahin, the head doctor of the hospital said that they asked the US team for help to establish a good laboratory in the region.
The team after completing its tour of affected areas in Turkey, left for Baku, Azerbaijan yesterday.
