At a joint press conference on Saturday held in Istanbul, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat called on the international community to end the isolation imposed on the Turkish Cypriots. The joint statements came after bilateral meetings were held in Istanbul. "Turkey will not do anything unless Turkish Cypriots’ isolation ends,” Talat’s appeared to be hopeful when he said, “The isolation of the Turkish Cypriots will come to an end we’ll integrate into the world.”
Calling on all the relevant parties to put an end to the isolation of Turkish Cypriots, Erdogan said, “We’re determined to protect the rights of the Turkish Cypriots and cooperate with the TRNC authorities to this end. Despite the negative attitude of the Greek Cypriot administration, we advocate a fair and lasting solution on the island.”
